“Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is….fear itself – nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror, which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” –Franklin D. Roosevelt
Wise words that certainly pertain to these strange times. Instead of bringing us together, this current crisis seems to have widened the red-blue state divide. It’s hard to know what the truth is. This uncertainty is a cause of a lot of our fear. Fear is paralyzing and never the foundation for a way out of any crisis.
Zachary Karabell had a good article in Newsweek: No Matter How Dire The Coronovirus Threat, Fear Is Not The Way Out. I think you’ll enjoy it.
Roosevelt’s wise words helped people get through the Great Depression by giving them a sense that the future would hold better things. The same applies today. We will get through this crisis and the future will hold better things.
